Numi Yoga opens first location in College Park, MD

PRESS RELEASE 10.31.16

College Park location offers beginners to advanced yoga classes, workshops, and community events.

College Park, MD - Numi Yoga, locally owned by Kelsey Starr and her husband, University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School faculty member, Dr. Evan Starr, will open its doors in College Park Saturday, November 5th and celebrate with three free all-levels classes.

Conveniently located in downtown College Park, just off of Route 1 on College Avenue, Numi Yoga is a short walk from the University of Maryland campus and the College Park Metro Station.  Numi Yoga will offer a variety of class styles including Alignment, Vinyasa, Hot Vinyasa, and Prenatal classes.  The schedule will begin with over 20 classes a week in order to provide options for the busy lives of residents and students.

“Evan and I have a vision to grow roots in College Park and create a place for the community to grow around health and wellbeing,” said founder, Kelsey Starr.  “We’ve been connecting on campus, with the City of College Park, and with the City-University Partnership and feel like we are really meeting a need in this area.”

Numi Yoga is home to a spacious one-room studio with a bathroom and changing area, and yoga inspired retail boutique which will showcase men’s and women’s active and loungewear, as well as a variety of mats and props.

Yoga practitioners who are interested in purchasing memberships early can secure Founder’s packages.  Students who are new to yoga can purchase two weeks of unlimited classes for $18.

Numi Yoga will host a Grand Opening celebration on Sunday, November 20th.  From 12-2pm, members of the community are welcome to see the space, meet the founders and instructors, and enjoy food and beverage from local vendors.  At 2pm, Numi will host a yoga class to benefit the local Crossroads Community Food Network.  We hope to see you there.
